Terms of Use
These are the conditions for using the Mente Alegre games. They are written to be read straight through; if anything is unclear, write to us.
1. Who we are and what this covers
The games published under the Mente Alegre brand (for example "Sopa de Letras: Mente Alegre", "Diferencias: Mente Alegre" and "Crucigrama: Mente Alegre") are developed and published by Uigurus S.A. (MYConsultingCR), corporate ID (cédula jurídica) 3-101-714694, a company incorporated in Costa Rica with its registered office in San José, Costa Rica. In this text, "we" means Uigurus S.A. (MYConsultingCR) and "the apps" means those games on Google Play and the App Store.
By downloading or using one of the apps you accept these terms and our privacy policy. If you do not agree, do not use the apps.
2. Your license to play
We grant you a personal, free, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to install and use the apps on devices you own or control, for your entertainment. We do not sell the apps: they remain ours and our content licensors'.
You may not copy, modify, decompile, rent, resell or distribute the apps or their content, extract the levels, word lists, images, sounds or fonts for use outside the apps, or use the apps for anything unlawful or harmful to others.
3. Content and intellectual property
The Mente Alegre name, logos, design, texts, levels, illustrations and music in the apps are the property of Uigurus S.A. (MYConsultingCR) or are used under license. The Atkinson Hyperlegible Next typeface is used under the SIL Open Font License. Google Play and App Store are trademarks of Google LLC and Apple Inc.
4. They are entertainment games
The apps are pastimes. They are not a medical, therapeutic or educational product, and we promise no outcome regarding your health. If any communication of ours ever suggests otherwise, tell us and we will correct it.
5. Ads
The apps are free and are funded by ads between levels and by optional purchases. Ads are served by Google AdMob; the privacy policy explains what data is involved and how to choose between contextual and personalized ads. Some in-game helps (for example a hint) are obtained by watching a short ad you choose to watch. We are not responsible for third-party products or services advertised.
6. In-app purchases
- How you pay. All purchases go through Google Play or the App Store, with the account and payment method you have there. We never see your card.
- What you can buy. "Remove ads" (a one-time payment that removes the ads between levels in that app), hint packs, themed level packs and, sometimes, a welcome bundle. No purchase is a subscription. "Remove ads" does not include hints or packs, and those do not include "Remove ads".
- Prices. Shown in the store in your currency, tax included where the store says so. They may change; the price that applies is the one you see when you confirm.
- Per app and per store. Each purchase applies to the app you bought it in and the store you bought it from. It does not carry over between Android and iPhone or between different Mente Alegre games.
- Restoring. If you reinstall or change devices, use "Restore purchases" in Settings with the same store account. Consumed hints are not restored.
- Refunds. Handled by the store under its own rules (Google Play and the App Store each have a process, explained on our support page). If the law of your country gives you additional rights, they are honored.
- Minors. If you are not yet of legal age in your country, you need permission from a parent or guardian to make purchases. The stores offer controls to require a password for every payment.
7. Changes to the apps
We may update the apps, add or remove levels and features, and at some point stop publishing an app. If we withdraw an app from the stores, what you already have installed keeps working offline as long as your operating system allows it. We will make reasonable efforts to give advance notice of any significant change affecting something you purchased.
8. Warranties and liability
The apps are provided "as is". We do our best to make them work well on common phones and tablets, but we cannot guarantee they are free of errors or available at all times. To the extent permitted by law, Uigurus S.A. (MYConsultingCR) is not liable for indirect damages arising from the use of the apps, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for the app in the last 12 months. Nothing here limits the rights granted to you by the consumer law of your country.
9. End of the license
You may stop using the apps at any time by uninstalling them. We may terminate your license if you breach these terms. The sections on intellectual property, warranties and governing law survive termination.
10. Store conditions
When installing from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply. When installing from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies as a minimum; where that agreement and these terms conflict, Apple's prevails to the extent it is more favorable to you. Apple and Google are not responsible for the apps or their support; we provide support at hola@mentealegre.com. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms with respect to apps distributed on the App Store.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Any dispute will be resolved by the courts of San José, Costa Rica, unless the law of your country of residence allows you to bring it before the courts of your home jurisdiction, in which case that right is preserved. Before any claim, please write to us: almost everything is resolved with an email.
12. Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we will publish the new version on this page with its effective date. If the change is significant, we will announce it inside the apps or in their store listing. Continuing to use the apps after the effective date means you accept the new version.
